Joko Tingkir held the important role in the establishment of Mataram Islam Sultanate by giving Ki Ageng pemanahan and his son, Sutawijaya the land in Kotagede who later became the capital city of Mataram Islam Sultanate.

Now, Kotagede became the region of Jogjakarta.
